Brand New Western Mountaineering Sequoia MF 5 Degree Sleeping Bag. I bought this beautiful bag as the store’s floor model. It’s in perfect condition. I wanted a bag that I could take in the Sierra’s during the winter, Denali next year, and other freezing winter adventures. Also, just thought I wanted an extra warm bag to have around so I could take inexperienced backpackers with me on trips and they wouldn’t complain about being cold. However, I’m going a different route now. I sleep very warm, and I simply don’t need a bag this warm. Everyone knows that Western Mountaineering makes the best bags (sorry, but they’re much better than feather friends) and that their degree ratings are highly underrated. For example, I’ve used their Summerlite 32F on a 10 degree night at 13,800 because I didn’t want to summit Whitney at night and wasn’t too cold despite only having shorts and a lightweight puffy. But again, I sleep very warm and simply don’t need a Western Mountaineering bag rated at 5F unless I was going into something in the -40 range. And at -40 I would have so much other gear (jackets, thermals, etc) that again I still wouldn’t need a bag rated down to 5F. That being said, this would be a phenomenal bag for 90% of backpackers, recreational campers, cold sleepers, or people that just want a luxurious sleep during the night. 5 1/4 Spacing/Continuous Baffles. 7 Loft, 5° F. For serious weather protection our roomy Sequoia is available in a tightly woven 1.2 oz. The MicroLite XP fabric offers maximum breathability while allowing a high degree of water resistance. These Sequoias have a full down collar solidly stuffed with down to provide a protective seal from the bellows effect as you move about inside your bag. The continuous baffles allow you to adjust the down fill to suit the changes in weather. Its two zippers not only allow you to zip to mummy bags but also to unzip the foot so that it can lie out flat. Our Sequoias are a perfect choice if you dont like sacrificing elbow room during the most weather prone climates. USGI IMSS Modular Sleep System, 5 Piece ACU in good used condition. Components range from excellent to very good. I cant find any major flaws. There might be some minor snags, wear, pilling, or small stains (that more than likely could be removed) but thats all I could find. Some components are in new condition. They have not been laundered since some prefer not to have their sets laundered. Picture is a representation of what to expect but they are all very similar. All are nice and 100% serviceable. COLD WEATHER SLEEPING BAG. A modular sleep system from the Canadian Armed Forces; perfect for cold weather adventures. We believe this Canadian kit is the warmest military-surplus sleep system available. Consisting of five separate components, the kit offers significant protection from extreme cold: 1. Nylon with down insulation. Weight: 2.28 kg. Width: 80 cm (shoulder), 50 cm (foot). Weight: 2.24 kg. Width: 75 cm (shoulder), 50 cm (foot). Nylon outer, cotton inner and synthetic insulation together with Velcro fastenings and elasticated arm loops. Water resistant nylon with a draw-code closure. Can be used as an emergency water carrier. Total weight: 5.9 kg. Packed size: 66 x 37 cm. Both bags feature high quality brass YKK zips and baffles along the length of each to eliminate cold spots. Ties allow the bags and liner to be fastened together. Each bag can be used individually, with or without the hood, depending on the conditions. The hood is designed to be worn like a balaclava; the sleeping bag then fastens around the collar of the hood which extends down the back, shoulders and chest. Velcro at two positions on the hood allow the opening to be adjusted based on the temperature and user’s preference. This design minimises the risk of exhaling into the bag, reducing the likelihood of the bag getting damp and the insulation becoming less effective. The’loft’ on the down is fantastic and will provide high levels of insulation. Please note that this is just an estimate. Our research on the internet suggests these bags were originally rated to -40 °C. For comparison, the last picture shows one of our used Canadian bags next to an Alpkit Alpine Dream 900 (-20 °C comfort rated). Condition All components are in superb condition. The two bags may have been used but there are no signs they have – they are clean, fresh and undamaged. The loft on the down is excellent. Liner, hood and storage sack are all excellent too. The waterproof coating on the inside of the bag looks like new. Overall one of the best we’ve seen. Pictures show an identical item.
