REI Premium Goose Down -40 Expedition / Mountaineering Sleeping Bag “Mountainer”. This sleeping bag is in excellent condition and has an average total loft of 7 inches. It contains Prime Northern Silvergrey® Goose Down, not the cheaper and heavier duck down. It is regular size, 33 x 90 inches and has 3 pounds of 100% goose down insulation. It has been stored uncompressed and has retained the original loft. COSMETIC NOTES: It is in excellent cosmetic condition. There is no damage. Note there is some soiling on the interior near the head and the bag has a slight aroma. We typically would launder this prior to even listing however it is too lofty to fit into our industrial washer and we recommend that you have it professionally cleaned, if desired. OPERATIONAL NOTES: This is an incredibly-warm bag. It is designed for true mountaineering use. ITEM INCLUDES: Nothing else is included – it comes as shown. It is intended for those who do a lot of camping and climbing in the winter or in generally colder climates. It will provide extra protection in the mountains at any time of the year and is suitable for some expedition use. Made utilizing Slant-tube constructions, it has 6″ wide tubes which overlap each adjoining tube by approximately 3″ which creates an overlapping tube effect. This is the warmest system for a given amount of Down. The narrow tubes and a full length, cross-baffle eliminate cold spots by restricting the shift of Down. It is made of 1.9 oz. Ripstop nylon with a differential cut; the outer shell cut larger than the inner shell. The outer fabric remains loose allowing the Down to maintain its loft while the inner shell confines the body and prevents elbows and knees from pushing the inner fabric against the outer shell, reducing cold spots. The inner baffles are made of a special tricot knit material. It contains Prime Northern Silvergrey® Goose Down with a total average loft of 7. The top half has 60% of the Down with an average loft of 4. It does more good on top since body weight tends to flatten the Down making it less effective. The bag is 62″ in circumference at the shoulders and 36″ at the feet. The half-moon shaped head piece can be formed into a hood with the drawstring Fixlock® clamp. The two-way, 7- long, No. 10 YKK Delrin® zipper is backed by a Down baffle and can be opened to ventilate the lower part of the bag. Color: Flame Red with Sand color lining.
