Inspired by the sun, made for Earth. Brainiac scientists tell us that the sun’s made primarily of plasma, so it stands to reason that Marmot would make the Plasma 15 Down Sleeping Bag out of the same hot-hot-HOT material; unfortunately, Marmot’s bag designers couldn’t quite figure out how to sew plasma and magnetic fields into a functional sleeping bag, so they opted for 875-fill goose down wrapped in bulletproof Pertex Quantum fabric for the ultimate combination of warmth and lightness. It weighs less than a galaxy’s worth of anti-matterjust under two poundsand packs down smaller than the beginning of the Big Bang, so you won’t notice it in your pack any more than you’d notice a few extra protons. This combination of weight and warmth is made possible by the Insotect Flow vertical baffles, which direct heat downwards to the wrap-around footbox, minimizing the amount of down required to keep you toasty. Down also loses most of its insulating value when it gets wet, so Marmot designed the Plasma an inner and outer DWR coating, and treated the insulation with Down Defender, which helps it maintain loft it things do get a little soggy. There are also small touches that make a big difference, like a cold-air defeating insulated draft tube, insulated collar, and face muff to seal your bag up tight against the chill; if you get cold, it’s probably because you’ve taken the Plasma somewhere it doesn’t quite belong, like the moon. 875-fill goose down with Down Defender water-resistant treatment. This is a beautiful expedition-quality Western Mountaineering Puma Gore-Tex DryLoft. Sleeping bag (has 5 ounces of overfill), 6′ length. It’s in excellent condition with no stains, tears, punctures or rips of any kind. When not in use it’s been stored uncompressed in a cool, dry basement. It’s just been hand-washed with Nikwax down soap and tumble-dried on low heat for several hours. Bag is like new! 850+ fill power goose down. 8.5 loft, (around -35° F with overfill). With overfill now 40 oz. Gore DryLoft draft tubes. Includes a really nice Granite Gear compression/stuff-sack and the large Western Mountaineering storage bag. Check out my other items. It comes with a storage bag; no stuff sack. The new NEMO Spoon Shape is wide in the shoulders, tapers to the hips and then gently flares back out to allow room for the natural bend and shift of knees. DownTek 700-fill-power duck down is treated with a micro-thin polymer so it will repel water and maintain loft and insulation value, even in the wettest conditions. A nifty little feature in the hood is the tuckable Blanket Fold, an insulated flap of fabric that can be wrapped around your neck to block drafts and add warmth. Vertical baffle construction curves to the shape of your body; construction keeps down from shifting around, preventing cold spots. Footbox has a waterproof/breathable coating on the backside of the fabric that combines with a Durable Water Repellent finish on the exterior to protect from tent condensation.
