Western Mountaineering -10 Dakota/Lynx GoreTex Sleeping Bag Pristine Condition, regular length, right zip. Size is regular (6′), loft is 9″ at chest, 8″ at knee, 9 at foot. Always stored indoors in a climate controlled environment in its storage sack; never compressed. This is the predecessor to the Lynx GTX. The cut of the bag is slightly slimmer than the Lynx. It is more heat efficient, but not the right fit for folks with more than a 44″ chest/36″ waist. Condition of the bag is pristine. I have never used it outdoors. It does not appear to have ever been used. The Dakota/Lynx was designed with winter and spring conditions in mind and will shrug off all but the deepest cold. The Gore shell adds a significant element of protection from wind, frost, condensation and spills. Here are the specs for the Lynx (size of this one is 6’0). The Western Mountaineering Highlite is part of the the ExtremeLite series of sleeping bags. It is the ideal choice if you are looking for a down-filled sleeping bag that is as lightweight and compressible as possible. The Highlite weighs just 455g and will pack away into a 15 x 30cm stuff sack. It is rated to 2°C (35°F). Western Mountaineering have achieved these impressive figures by using a Sewn-Thru & Baffled Box Construction. A box-type construction involves dividing the down fill into separate pockets as shown in the diagram below. This type of construction can be a compromise in certain situations because the down insulation cannot be effective at the seams. However, the Western Mountaineering Highlite has baffled vertical seams. This means that 1.5 inch netting separates the inner and outer seams to ensure that the full insulating power of the 850+ goose down is realised. Western Mountaineering have used their ExtremeLite shell fabric, which strikes a perfect balance between weight and durability. By combining this with a very efficient cut (ensuring the Highlite contains no unnecessary fabric) a total fabric weight of just 230g is achieved. Original owner and only used twice on two summer trips with liner. Looking over the entire bag I see no rips, tears, or stains. Bag lofts to the full 5.5.
