US Military Improved Modular Sleep System. Includes GoreTex Bivy, Patrol and Cold Weather Sleeping Bags, and 2 Stuff Sacks. This is a genuine US Army surplus 5-piece Improved Modular Sleep System (IMSS), made in the USA by Tennier Industries. Each sleeping bag system contains 5 components, described in detail below: the patrol sleeping, the intermediate cold weather sleeping bag, the bivy cover, and 2 compression stuff sacks. The sleeping bags can be used independently or snapped together into the sleep system, providing comfortable year-round sleeping conditions. Snaps hold the sleeping bags and bivy cover in place, so they will not move or slide around on you when you’re trying to get in or out. Together, the sleep system is rated down to -30° F or -40° F. These sleeping bags appear to be in Like New condition. We receive these items in bulk from the military so we cannot say for sure whether or not they are brand new, but these bags to appear to be in flawless condition. Compression Stuff Sack – The Improved Modular Sleep System comes with a large and a small compression stuff sack, both grey in color. The entire sleep system can fit into either of these stuff sacks. We take the time to disassemble every sleep system that we receive and grade each component individually. When we reassemble the sleep systems, we match like pieces together to create sleep systems that are consistent in quality throughout. Like New – Every component of the sleep system will generally look unused, many times the original tags are still attached. They may have a little dust or dirt on them from storage but they will be flawless in every other aspect. The bivy covers will be in flawless, like new condition. The other components will be on the high end of our very good condition, showing only minor signs of use. No holes or rips in any component, drawstrings will be intact, zippers will slide easily. They may have a little dust or dirt from storage. Very Good – All components will show some minor signs of use, but will be free of rips, tears, and holes. Zippers will slide easily and drawstrings are intact. The sleeping bags may have slight pilling or a little bit of general wear. Some of the bivy covers have had repair patches added to them by the military, but will be free of any holes or rips. Fair – All components will show moderate signs of use, but will still be fully functional. The bivy covers may have small pinholes or a small rip that could be easily covered with a patch. The sleeping bags will show more signs of general wear and may have a snag or a small rip that could be stitched up. US Army USGI Five Piece Improved Modular Sleep System. These systems are new and still sealed in the original bag. The US Army Improved 5 Piece ACU Digital Sleep System is a sleeping bag system constructed to insulate the user in environments ranging from mild weather to extremely cold weather. The system consists of two Mummy style sleeping bags. There is the Patrol (Dark gray) and the Intermediate Cold Weather (Urban Grey). Each bag is constructed of water-resistant ripstop nylon. Each bag is fully functional independently in temperate condition, or used together for colder condition. For a temperature to -30°, insert the Intermediate Cold Weather bag inside the Patrol bag. Each bag is compatible with the vapor permeable bivy cover. When all 3 components are used together the system is rated to provide 4 hours sleep at -40°F. This sleeping bag is 84 long with a right hand zipper. My exposed face was the only part of me that noticed the cold temperature. As can be seen from the photos, this sleeping bag is in nearly pristine condition without any noticeable stains, spots, or soiled areas. The zipper is first rate and unzips smoothly without snagging. This was a most important consideration for me since I tend to be a little bit claustrophobic when zipped into the mummy configuration. A high-performance option for cold-weather backpacking, the Kelty Ignite DriDown 0 Degree sleeping bag provides the lightweight, compressibility of down insulation with all-weather reliability normally associated only with synthetic fills. Renowned for their efficiency in retaining heat and compressible properties, the feathers and fibers of down have an incredibly soft, comfortable feel and, despite advances in synthetic materials, continue to provide the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any insulation available. The one inherent weakness of down insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet, but DriDown performs differently. Employing a unique, innovative polymer application, DriDown actually creates a hydrophobic finish on each individual plume of down. This treatment results in insulation that stays dry up to 7 times longer and dries 33% faster, should it become wet, than untreated down bags. Perhaps most impressively, this allows the insulation to retain 98% of its loft which translates into maintained warmth that untreated down bags simply cannot achieve. Box-baffle construction eliminates cold spots, keeping outside air from reaching the interior of the Ignite DriDown 0 Degree bag. A draft tube behind the 58, two-way locking zipper, a fully-insulated draft collar and a contoured hood with an insulated hood baffle further enhance the thermal efficiency of the Ignite DriDown 0 Degree bag. The hood utilizes Kelty’s patented FatMan and Ribbon drawcords, allowing you to adjust the top or lower sections of the hood by feel even when it’s dark outside. A polyester taffeta liner provides internal comfort. Other features found on the Ignite DriDown 0 Degree include sleeping pad security loops, internal liner loops and hanging loops.
