When you need a reliable Winter/Alpine sleeping bag, it’s not advisable to skimp on quality. Enter: The Western Mountaineering Puma MF. If you have been researching high end sleeping bags, you’ve probably come across Western Mountaineering as one of a very few companies recognized as the pinnacle of their craft. For starters, all their bags are handmade in the US and always have been. Although their bags come in a few different shell materials, their MicroFiber(MF) is the best all around. It’s super breathable to allow your vapor to escape at night but still remains highly water resistant to effectively deal with condensation. All of their bags are also filled with the highest quality down available, for maximum loft, compression and longevity. The Puma MF is the 2nd warmest bag they make and rated at -25. This is the 6′ model and weighs in at a scant 3lbs 7oz. This bag has been used literally 4 or 5 nights and is in immaculate condition. If I still had the tags, I could easily sell it as brand new. It’s always been stored by hanging it in a closet, so the down has never been compressed except for the couple of weekends I’ve gone Winter camping. Take a look at the Western Mountaineering website for even more details. Then do yourself a favor and try and find a legitimate bad review for this bag. Up for sale is a mint condition Western Mountaineering Summerlite bag. This is a L. ZIpper bag 6′ length model. Weight on my scale is 1 pound 4 ounces. This bag is pristine. A few years old but mint shape. It has no holes, rips, or tears. It has full loft and comes with a western Mountaineering stuff sack, no storage sack. I have only used this bag about once a season. I mainly don cold weather backpacking and use a zero degree bag for that. Have just washed this bag in a front loader with down wash and dried with tennis balls so it’s ready for its new owner.
