This is a SCARCE Korean War Era US military M-1949 mountain sleeping bag feather down filled, vacuum sealed in a tin can, these were sealed in cans for the USAF as survival kits , these are getting harder to find for your collection, you can see in the pics that the can has dents, it also still has a opening key with it, even with the dents it’s highly collectible , the front says it was canned in AUG. ITEM: GoLite Fur 1 Sleep System + aftermarket stuff sack. Bag still has tags attached. I never attempted to wash the bag and it hasn’t been used. It is in this exact same condition as when I bought it. That’s where its been all these years. It has not been used so the bag loft and foam condition is good. GoLite Fur 1 Sleep System Own a piece of VINTAGE ultralight backpacking and camping history… You’d be lucky to even find another one of these for sale anywhere in the US… And to find one in this condition, unused is incredibly RARE. GoLite rose to fame on the tails of Ray Jardine’s popularity with the book “Beyond Backpacking” which is still a GREAT read… Highly recommended and their specialty was ULTRA lightweight gear and clothing to aid backpackers in covering more miles per day or to simply enjoy the scenery a bit more without being bogged down by weight. I bought this in prep for an ultra-fast completion of the John Muir Trail which never happened due to a knee injury during training. This one has the heavy dury durable canvas outter material and also comes with the original tent tarp top attachment that snaps onto it. (see old original add picture). It measures 70″ long x 64″ or when folded is 32, has the zipper which could use lube but does move/(zip). Very rare and hard to find in this condition.
Could use a dry cleaning. The white spots in the pictures is my camera, not the bag. My description is my opinion. I do strive to be as accurate as i can be when listing my items, pointing out any & all flaws that i see. I do mark all my items to prevent fraud.
